Dr. Lorne Parnes, Dr. Elizabeth Lock
Under the medical/surgical leadership of Dr. Lorne Parnes, the LHSC cochlear implant program continues to thrive at the pace of about 25-30 implants per year. This year we were fortunate to have Dr. Elizabeth Lock join our team. Dr. Lock is a psychiatrist with a special interest in mental health problems in the hearing impaired population. Recently the program shifted its focus towards the MED-EL company with whom it will partner in two clinical trials, a bilateral implant study in children and an electric acoustic study (EAS) in adults. The program also became the first in North America to implant the MED-EL Pulsar device.
