Research Mission

Impact on patient care and medical education has been the drivers of our research efforts. These objectives have been the basis of our clinical outcomes research, translational research, and investigations of technological innovations. We have a strong track record of collaboration with basic scientist and strong support from industry.

Our residents are an integral part of our research program. One exemplification of our resident research program has been our success at the Medtronic Xomed Poliquin competition at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery. Over the past 5 years our residents have won the coveted award 4 times.

Educational Mission

Our mission is to continue to set the educational standard for Canada. We take great pride in our residents and the training they receive. The strength of the program is first and foremost dependent on the unwavering commitment of the faculty and the shared vision of excellence in surgical training. Secondly, the breadth and depth of subspecialty expertise provides a very well-balanced experience. We also understand the importance
of balancing service delivery by residents with the educational value. It is imperative that we continue to maintain these balances. We continue to attract the finest students to our facility. Our success is attributable to our emphasis on undergraduate education and by our strong residency program.
