Evaluation of Residents

  1. Each resident will review his/her performance with the hospital Chief at the end of each rotation or each quarter – this is a written report.
  2. It is recommended that in addition to the published rotation-specific objectives, the resident meets with the rotation supervisor at the beginning and part-way through the rotation to go over any additional objectives that the resident may wish to address.
  3. Each resident in December/January of each year will take written and oral examinations
  4. Ongoing performance evaluations of a less formal nature will occur throughout the year.
  5. All PGY2 residents will write the Principles of Surgery examination (usually in the Spring of the PGY2 year).
